RSS lets you get the latest content from your favorite Web sites in short summaries -- without having to surf the Web. RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. Web sites and Web logs (“blogs") use RSS to send updated headlines to you. Unlike e-mail, RSS is “spam-free” and always updated. (In technical terms, RSS is an XML standard for distributing and aggregating text. CiNWeekly.com uses RSS 2.0.)
CiNWeekly.com’s RSS feeds contain headlines, summaries, and links back to the latest articles on CiNWeekly.com. Currently these include all articles from CiN Weekly and its associated blogs.
There are a number of ways to get RSS feeds. You can install a program called a news reader, or news aggregator, to collect and display RSS from sources you pick. After installing a news reader, you can add feeds one at a time by clicking on the "Subscribe" or the "XML" orange button next to the feed. A number of news readers are available, most at no cost. Many vary in form and function, so you may want to try a few before picking one. Google lists many news aggregators you can download.
Or, you can use a Web-based news reader, such as My Yahoo! This will enable you to access your RSS feed without having to run a special program.
We don’t recommend one solution or another, but here is list of some of the most popular news readers. (Please note that Cincinnati.Com does not provide technical support for these products.)
