520 Vine St., Fountain Square, downtown
513-721-8483 or www.viaviterestaurant.com
As anyone who's been to Fountain Square in the last year or so can tell you, it's hard not to notice Via Vite. (It is the only free-standing restaurant on the square itself, after all.) And with its eye-catching architecture, stylish modern interior and intimate dining rooms, it is something to see.
Head upstairs, though, and you'll realize the view from Via Vite's terrace is quite a sight itself. Overlooking the neighboring Tyler Davidson Fountain as well as the general hustle and bustle of Fountain Square, the terrace provides one of the best places to kick back in all of downtown. You can even lounge on big, comfy Pottery Barn-style furniture if you like.
On the menu, Via Vite offers treats such as wood-fired pizzas ($7-$13) and late-night options that make inexpensive dining with friends a snap. But you might have a hard time deciding what to order, with entrées including penne with traditional meat sauce alla Bolognese ($13-$18) and braised lamb shank with lamb jus and polenta ($25).
Hours: Open 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Friday-Saturday and 1 to 10 p.m. Sunday (late night menu available 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Monday-Thursday and 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday-Saturday).
