Table with a view: City View Tavern

403 Oregon St., Mt. Adams
513-241-8439 or www.cityviewtavern.com

Eat the Big Ted.

The bartenders at City View Tavern recommend this deluxe half-pound burger, which is sandwiched between Kaiser buns with American cheese, onions, mayonnaise, tomato, mustard and lettuce and served with a side of potato chips. Too many condiments? Opt for the Teddy Burger ($4.25) - same sandwich, save for the onion, tomato, lettuce and cheese. Vegetarian? Try the Big Ted-No Ted ($3.50), the Big Ted without the half-pounder.

Before you take a seat on City View Tavern's awesome patio with your burger and a frosty brew, remember this sign: "This is a residential area. Please be considerate of our neighbors and friends."

Really, do that. The tavern operates between homes along a rather narrow stretch of Oregon Street, away from Mount Adams' bustling business district. Patrons clamor for a table on the patio (maximum capacity is 28), and the reason is a no-brainer: They enjoy the high-altitude, panoramic view of Northern Kentucky's riverfront and the eastern part of downtown.

If you have to wait, you're not out of luck. You'll find a few tables next to the bar (and a window with a view comparable to the patio's). Another room near the entrance features a pool table.

Hours: Open 4 to 11 p.m. Monday-Tuesday, noon to 11 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday and noon to 1 a.m. Friday-Saturday.
